THE Challenge

Poor visibility of cloud software and limited support from their previous tool

Naviair was using a number of different cloud services across their IT environment, but despite having a SAM tool in place, they lacked sufficient visibility of their software estate, particularly their large library of cloud-based software. The platform they were using had limited cloud provider recognition, making it impossible to get a complete picture of what was running across the environment.

Extracting useful information was also difficult. Data was too diffuse and buried within complex reports, making it hard for the team to act on what they had.

“Our previous provider was very limited in the cloud providers it could recognize. We needed a solution that could show us more.”

— Lars Moth, IT Strategic Planner, Naviair

WHY XENSAM

Naviair needed a SAM platform that could inventory their full cloud estate regardless of vendor, surface data clearly, and deliver the usage insight required to optimize licensing. Xensam’s SaaS-native, AI-powered platform addressed all three directly, with cloud recognition capabilities and Active Usage Tracking that their previous tool couldn’t match.

“Before Xensam, it was nearly impossible to get visibility of licenses we didn’t know about. We’ve experienced a huge increase in apps recognized. Xensam’s cloud recognition in particular has been great. It’s been a real eye-opener to see shadow IT in the cloud that we couldn’t address with our previous tool.”

— Lars Moth, IT Strategic Planner, Naviair

THE RESULT

Full visibility of known and previously unseen applications

Naviair now benefits from a comprehensive inventory of all software assets, including previously unseen SaaS applications and shadow IT. Combined with Active Usage Tracking, this provides consumption data per user and per application down to the minute, giving the team the data they need to optimize licensing across both known and previously invisible applications.

Clear, usable data through an intuitive interface

Xensam’s interface turned around Naviair’s struggle with diffuse, hard-to-extract data, presenting software information in an easy-to-access format. The team can now get a clear picture of their licensing position, associated costs, and user and usage trends at a glance.

“Xensam’s user interface is very user-friendly and simple to use. We can train people up much faster because the platform is so easy to grasp.”

“It’s been helpful for us to see exactly when software was last used. This allows us to use data to inform decisions on reallocation or cancellation of licenses that have been unused for a certain period.”

— Lars Moth, IT Strategic Planner, Naviair

Data sharing across the organization with Standard Reports

Naviair uses Xensam’s Standard Reports to share software insights with key stakeholders across the organization, extending the value of reliable data beyond the IT team.

“Using Standard Reports to send data via email to other stakeholders in the company is very easy to use and so useful to us.”

— Lars Moth, IT Strategic Planner, Naviair

Cost saving potential and audit readiness

Since implementing Xensam, Naviair has identified significant cost saving potential on their Microsoft licenses. Ahead of renewal, the combination of application visibility, Active Usage Tracking, and cost saving recommendations will help them accurately right-size and reduce spend on underutilized licenses.

“With renewals coming up, we’re anticipating significant cost savings on Microsoft licenses with Xensam’s forecast of cost saving potential.”

— Lars Moth, IT Strategic Planner, Naviair

With a more comprehensive and reliable software inventory, Naviair also has a clear compliance position, giving the team confidence in the event of a software license audit.

“The compliance view of our licensing is very straightforward with Xensam. It gives me a quick picture of where we are with our licensing, which I rely on frequently. We can be certain that our compliance is in order.”

— Lars Moth, IT Strategic Planner, Naviair

Deployment in 1 week and responsive support

Naviair’s transition from their legacy tool was smooth and fast. Initial deployment across all endpoints was complete within one week, with immediate improvement in data quality.

“Implementation took place very quickly. It took us 1 week to deploy agents across the environment for both servers and clients.”

— Lars Moth, IT Strategic Planner, Naviair

Ongoing support from Xensam’s team has been equally responsive, tailored to help Naviair achieve their objectives across their IT environment.

“Xensam’s Support Technicians are extremely quick and knowledgeable. It’s been a night-and-day experience from our previous provider, and we’re confident they can effectively troubleshoot any issue we have.”
