European data control, without compromise

Data location is no longer a technical detail. It is a legal and operational decision.

Many cloud providers operate under jurisdictions that extend beyond where data is stored. This creates uncertainty for European organizations.

Xensam takes a different approach.

We do not rely on U.S.-based hyperscalers such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure. Instead, we partner with UpCloud, a European cloud provider based in Finland, certified to SOC 2 and ISO 27001 standards.

This gives organizations a clear answer to a simple question: Who controls your data?

Data within national borders and true sovereignty

Data sovereignty means data is governed by a legal framework that reflects who controls it and where they’re accountable, not simply where the servers sit.

For European organizations, this is no longer optional. It is a requirement.

When data is hosted within the EU by a European provider:

  • It remains under EU legislation
  • It follows European data protection standards
  • It is not subject to the U.S. CLOUD Act specifically

Xensam ensures that your data stays within the EU. It does not leave unless you choose otherwise.

No exposure to the U.S. CLOUD Act

U.S.-based cloud providers are subject to the U.S. CLOUD Act.

This means authorities can request access to data, even if it is stored in Europe.

For European organizations, this creates legal uncertainty.

By using a European provider with no U.S. ownership or jurisdictional ties, this risk does not apply in the same way. Your data remains governed by European law, without the CLOUD Act pathway that applies to U.S.-based providers.

Compliance with EU data protection laws (GDPR)

Data stored within the EU is governed by GDPR.

This provides:

  • Clear rules for how data is processed and shared
  • Protection against foreign access without EU legal grounds
  • Defined accountability for providers
  • Strong technical and organizational safeguards

UpCloud’s SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications add independently verified security on top of this framework.

Expanded Nordic presence with local data centers

UpCloud has expanded its Nordic infrastructure with new data centers:

  • Copenhagen, Denmark — opened December 16, 2025
  • Stavanger, Norway — opened January 20, 2026

This gives organizations more control over where data is stored.

For Danish and Norwegian businesses, this means:

  • Data can remain within national borders
  • Compliance aligns with both local regulation and GDPR
  • Latency is reduced
  • Legal oversight becomes clearer

Organizations can now choose data location without compromise.

What this means for enterprise control

Data sovereignty is not only about storage. It is about control.

Without clear ownership of data jurisdiction:

  • Compliance becomes uncertain
  • Risk increases
  • Governance becomes reactive

At the same time, data alone is not enough. It must be accurate, complete, and usable.

Xensam provides a trusted data foundation across software, hardware, and users. This enables organizations to move from fragmented information to clear, decision-ready insight.

Governance should not happen after risk appears. It should be built into how data is managed from the start.

Why this matters now

The global political and regulatory landscape is changing.

Transatlantic data transfers, digital sovereignty, and foreign jurisdiction are no longer theoretical concerns. They are board-level decisions.

Xensam combines:

  • A European cloud provider
  • EU-based data centers
  • SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications
  • Full GDPR alignment
  • No exposure to the U.S. CLOUD Act

The result is clear.

True European data control.
